House of Amber is one of the world’s oldest and largest manufacturers of exclusive amber jewellery. The jewellery is being sold through three stores in Copenhagen, one store in Stockholm and 30 stores in China. House of Amber cooperates with Danish designers to meet the demand for Scandinavian design. The Chinese constitute a major customer group because amber has a long history in China, and amber has a special significance to the Buddhist religion.
Dansk Generationsskifte is a private equity fund with the objective to acquire and develop businesses. Dansk Generationssskifte bought House of Amber, because the company had excellent products and a good business system, which formed the platform for the subsequent internationalization of the company.
The buyer was found by conducting a structured sales process targeting many potential buyers, both industrial and financial buyers but also wealthy business people who wanted to buy and run a business.
